We’ve hit the ground running in 2025 with a visit to our butcher, Birtwistle. Birtwistle Catering Butchers have had four generations of family within the business, giving them over 100 years’ experience in the meat and farming industry. Their mission to continuously provide first class quality products with an excellent standard of service, shares many synergies with Olive’s own mission statement ‘To be the Workplace Caterer of Choice’.
Purchasing Director, Robert Smith and Director of Food, Jacqui Mee were given a comprehensive site tour. They had the opportunity to see and taste various products prepared by Birtwistle’s Development Chef, Steve Midgley in their development centre.
Aside from sampling delicious food, the visit was a chance to catch up and review the supplier partnership with insightful and valuable feedback on both sides.
The already successful partnership will go from strength to strength in 2025 with Birtwistle’s supporting Olive on exciting ventures including;
Training days for Olive’s team members within the supplier’s development Kitchen,
Chef training modules focused on speciality cuts of meat,
‘Meat the butcher experiences’ for Olive team members, and
Farm visits featuring demonstrations on sausage making.
