We have teamed up with commercial TV network, ITV, and Veg Power (an initiative from The Food Foundation) to support its campaign to get everyone eating more veg.
The Eat Them To Defeat Them campaign was created to encourage people to eat more vegetables, and inspire a change in attitude towards vegetables, in order to help tackle the rise in diet-related illnesses in the UK.
As part of the campaign, the last week of January saw Olive host veg pop-up stands (see below for a gallery of images) in each of our ITV staff restaurants that provided employees with samples of fresh vegetables, along with the opportunity to learn more about healthy eating and nutrition. Olive’s juice bars were also available at the pop-up stands to offer a range of fresh juices.
In addition to the pop-up stands, Olive will be featuring a nominated ‘vegetable of the week’ that will be included throughout the menu from January to inspire people with fresh and exciting ways to serve vegetables. Olive’s Food Innovation team has created bespoke menus for the campaign, including hot food options, a range of salads, new sandwich fillings and a grab-and-go selection, that feature the designated vegetable of the week.
Angela Linsky, Operations and Service Delivery Manager (North) at ITV, commented: “Studies have shown that 80% of adults do not eat enough vegetables, so it’s important that we show how vegetables can be prepared in new ways and enjoyed by all in every meal. We’re really pleased that Olive Catering Services have got on-board with our exciting new campaign, and we’re looking forward to seeing the fantastic new menus that the Food Innovation team has created with our featured vegetables.”
Damon Brown, co-founder of Olive Catering Services added: “We’re proud to be supporting ITV’s new campaign – our Veg Pop-up stands have been a resounding success and we’re confident that these small changes can make a real impact on how people consume vegetables. Creating healthy but exciting menus is at the heart of what we do here at Olive, and we’re looking forward to continuing to work with ITV to offer nutritious meals in the workplace.”
